چکیده

Abstract Bark from trees is considered a worthless raw material. However, this resource could be economically beneficial if utilized efficiently due to its rich chemical compounds. In study, an ethanol toluene-soluble extractive, alpha-cellulose and lignin obtained Leucaena leucocephala bark were characterized determine their functional groups. Based on FTIR spectral analysis, the results indicated that bands of groups extractive original remain unchanged; however, absorbance intensity was found weaker in group frequency fingerprint regions. Removal pectin, hemicellulose indirectly increased strong cellulose. Broad peaks OH stretching all spectra assigned presence phenolic aliphatic structures for aromatic lignin. It revealed mainly while water, carbonyl ether dominant cellulose, methyl, methylene, carboxyl enriched Graphic abstract

Sustain-Release of Various Drugs from Leucaena Leucocephala Polysaccharide

This study examines the sustained release behavior of both water-soluble (acetaminophen, caffeine, theophylline and salicylic acid) and water-insoluble (indomethacin) drugs from Leucaena leucocephala seed Gum isolated from Leucaena leucocephala kernel powder. It further investigates the effect of incorporation of diluents like microcrystalline cellulose and lactose on release of caffeine and pa...

Down-regulation of lignin biosynthesis in transgenic Leucaena leucocephala harboring O-methyltransferase gene.

In the present study, a 0.47 kb OMT gene construct from aspen, encoding for an enzyme O-methyltransferase (OMT, EC 2.1.1.6), in antisense orientation was used to down-regulate lignin biosynthesis in Leucaena leucocephala. The plants were transformed with Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain harboring the antisense gene, and the transformation was confirmed by PCR amplification of the npt II gene. T...

Leucaena leucocephala and adjacent native limestone forest habitats contrast in soil properties on Tinian Island

An ex situ germplasm collection of the endangered Cycas micronesica was established in a transition zone between biodiverse native forest and mature stands of the invasive species Leucaena leucocephala. Soil chemical properties were determined for the 2 tree cover types to inform management decisions. Total carbon, total nitrogen, calcium, and net ammonification were greater in native forest co...
